After years of playing poker, we’ve understood there are three kinds of poker players: those who can count, and those who can’t.
(sorry for that PJ! Let’s try again.)
After years of playing poker, we’ve understood there are two kinds of poker games: those, that are played competitively and those, that are played purely for fun.
The ones played purely for fun are usually held at people’s houses, with some chips and dips, loud music, sports on the screen, and a chilled beverage in hand.
These are social occasions where everyone around the table knows each other, or at the very least is a friend of a friend and as the evening goes on we’re all friends. (By comparison, poker games played competitively could happen at a poker club, a poker tournament, or at a friend’s place, but there will be people at the table that you may not know - and may make no effort to know; your objective is to leverage your superior poker skills and grow your stack.)
For the first time, 9stacks introduces friendly private tables to recreate that atmosphere of poker played with friends for fun. In essence, we’ve made it super easy for any user to create his or her private table, to which entry will be by invitation only!
Here’s how it works:
Go to the “Private” tab on the 9stacks app / website lobby
Click on “Create your own Private table”
Come up with a cool name for your table! Note that names are publicly visible on our system, so please avoid any names that might be offensive. If any other user complains about your table name we reserve the right to change the name or remove the table.
Set a password for the table (and share it on whatsapp / FB with friends you want to invite!)
Pick from the drop down menus to select Texas Holdem or Pot-Limit Omaha, the blind you want to play with, and the maximum number of players. Here’s a free tip: the more players the merrier so you can always go with the max, which is 9. It’s always fun to play with 9 stacks on the table :-)
To make it even more fun, as an initial offer the rake charged for our private tables is lower than our regular tables! Click here for all rake rules
Currently our private tables look and feel like regular tables, but in the coming months we’ll be introducing a bunch of features to make our private tables feel more like your private tables at home!
Keep watching this space!
